失眠 = 冇胃口

My recent lack of sleep must have something to do with my suppressed appetite. I've gone two nights now with hardly any sleep and two days without breakfast/lunch (mind you, I normally don't have breakfast anyway). Thank goodness for the 爭霸 DVD's that I still haven't finished =p.

I circle back to why I'm lacking sleep and came up with two possible reasons: bubble tea at 10pm with Maurice on Sunday night might have something to do with it; my HK dilemma (which I kinda solved with flipping a coin).

So this is me in the last 48hrs: BBT --> 1.5 hrs sleep --> no lunch --> Coke --> 3.5 hrs sleep --> no lunch again --> now.

Wonder if I'll sleep tonight...highly doubt it.

又收改?!?

I heard on the radio today that 金庸 at age 84, wants to amend his famous works again. I was thinking: "WTF?!? Again?!?" The last I heard, a few years ago he made changes to one of my favourite novels 射鵰英雄傳 and made a 師生戀 out of 黃藥師 and 梅超風. I told myself I'm NEVER going to read the revised version. He's screwing up my fave novel!! Then I heard that he changed it so that 尹志平 didn't rape 小龍女. It's been so many years already and people have accepted the storylines, so why change it? They were saying that as an author, 金庸 feels that his work is not "perfect" yet so it's a given that he would like to amend his work accordingly. Also, people wants to study his state of mind when he was in his 30's (original work), 50's (first amendments) compared to now while in his 80's. So this time around, he wants to get rid of a few of the girls in 鹿鼎記 as it's not ethical for one man to be with seven women in today's society. Well, DUH!! That's why 鹿鼎記 didn't take place in today's world!!

I'm devastated.

I have a dilemma!!

Life is full of dilemmas! I guess that's what makes life exciting. Excitement is exactly what I've been lacking in the last little while. So just when I thought the excitement won't come until December when I actually head to 東方之珠, Tinlop called me today and told me he wants to go to Hong Kong on October 1st. How exciting!! I actually feel excited for him because he hasn't been back to HK for so long and he wanted to go back since he started his flight attendant job back in March. But I wouldn't be half as excited if he didn't invite me to go!!!

So now I have a dilemma. To go or not to go? That is the question. Hamlet was truly obsessed with whether or not he wanted to commit suicide with his 34-line soliloquy, and now I'm totally preoccupied with whether or not I want to spend the next week in HK. I'd probably be able to give you more than 34 lines of reasons on why I want to go to HK too. The biggest part of my dilemma is whether I want to spend the extra airfare plus 八達通 plus food expense 保守估計 totalling approximately $600CAD. Yes, it'll only cost me that much to go to HK for the week!! Going with Tinlop, I'd be paying either $281.60, $353.70, $356.50 or $428.60 for airfare depending on whether or not we can get direct flights to and from HK. If we connect in Vancouver it'll be the pricier end. If I wasn't going to HK in 10 weeks, I'd pack my bags right now, no questions asked.

If Tinlop had asked me last week, I would have been kicking myself as my passport was due to arrive on October 1st (but I wouldn't have been placed in this predicament). However, my passport arrived early as it was already in my concierge mailroom since last Wednesday. So hence my dilemma now! I can always save the $600+ to spend in December, or go now and surprise a whole whackload of people. Not to mention bring back a Speedlite that I can play with before the new year.

What to do? What to do? 有冇人幫到我揸個主意?

快啦快啦!!

Just clicked into Sai V's blog and was promptly reminded that Project Hong Kong and Project Taiwan is only 11 weeks away! I frequently ask myself where all my time goes as it only seems like it was last month that we booked our tickets. The loooong 10-month wait is almost over! Now I just hope our dollar stays strong so it'll make our whole trip a tad cheaper.

On 24 Sep 2008
1.00 Canadian dollar = 7.50 Hong Kong dollars, exchange rate of 7.4979
1.00 Canadian dollar = 30.85 Taiwanese new dollars, exchange rate of 30.8452

Muahs~~

九秒九出入 Passport Office

Due to popular "demand", I finally went to get my passport today. I left the house at 2:24pm and made my way down to 4900 Yonge Street. Since this was not the first time I was there, I knew where to go as soon as I arrived. So up I went to the third floor and proceeded directly to the screening table to get a number. I had brought my DS with me just in case the wait was long. The time registered on my number slip was 2:48pm and when I left, the time was exactly 3:00pm!

So 12 minutes later, I was $87 poorer and Passport Canada is now $87 richer.

好食到飛起 vs. 難食到嘔

Today, I trekked all the way to J-Town from work to pick up some green wasabi tobikko but to my dismay, the former fish market moved and the new one didn't carry any. What they did carry was mentaiko 明太子 at approximately $7.50 per slab (about 3-4 inch piece) and UNI!! As I haven't had uni in a while, I decided to pick up a tray for dinner. Just looking at the trays and trays of uni made my mouth water. I ended up choosing a tray that looked fresh and decent.

So after picking up some mooncakes at T&T and driving home, I anxiously waited while the sushi rice cooked and cooled. I carefully laid the uni on top of the seasoned sushi rice and eagerly dug in. Doesn't it look good?

People weren't kidding when they say looks can be deceiving. I don't think I've had uni that tasted this bad in a very very long time! No, it wasn't spoiled, it tasted muddy. Yep, felt like I was spooning in mouthfuls of mud. Quite yucky if you ask me. I think I might have had two pieces that actually tasted like uni. Boy what a disappointment.

I recall one of my favourite TVB food-related dramas "A Recipe For The Heart 美味天王" where 關詠荷 and 古天樂 had to make curry chicken on rice for a competition. The scoring was 好食到停唔到口、好食到飛起、好食到痺. There was also a score of 難食到嘔. Well, I think my uni rice scored the latter. =(

Moles Whacked!

What's summer's end without a trip to the CNE? This year, the garbage-eating, mole-whacking, air show-watching 7-hour day was spent with 文生, Peggy, Edwin and 太上文太. We managed to find free parking on King Street and got down to the CNE grounds at around noon. The airshow promptly started at 1:00pm but I'm not much of a fan.

I am a fan of WHACK-A-MOLE!!

I haven't whacked moles in too many years! Every time I tell people I'm a mole-whacking champion, no one ever believes me. Of course not until I win. Haha! Well, this year, I had to whack twice because I got a little rusty =p but here is my prize!!

After the mole-whacking, some bowling ball-rolling and some ice cream waffle-eating, we headed over to Ontario Place to check out this year's Lantern Festival. They're pretty but not quite as nice as the first year's. We were going to stay for the lights to come on, but we all got too tired. We left around 7:30pm and headed to Congee Queen for dinner and of course since I was so hungry, ordered a whole table full of food!
